The device has an optical sensor (14) for signaling the reception of an object e.g. courier (12), in a reception zone i.e. opening (11), of a mail box (10). A transmitter (16) sends a short message service signal to a recipient when the sensor detects the reception of object. The sensor has a selection element (15) to distinguish the objects received in the zone, where the element identifies an identifier element (13) e.g. Radio frequency identification tag, of the object. A luminous element (18) indicates the reception of object in the mailbox.
