Tissue treatment dressing with electrodes and conductive gel held in pockets

A dressing 200 for treating damaged tissue has a pair of electrodes 210a,b either side of a conductive gel, so that the gel carries current between the electrodes in the region of the tissue being treated, in this case the lower leg of a patient. The gel is held in pockets 214 in the centre of the dressing and to either side are interlinked air pockets 218. The air pockets may be inflated via valve 219 to apply force onto the dressing so that electrodes and gel pockets tighten around the tissue. The dressing may include a control unit supplying current and sensors to provide feedback control based on measured oxygen, ph, bacterial infection levels or temperature at the treatment site. The conductive gel may release oxygen molecules when current flows.
