PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phosphate coated stainless steel wire for cold heading and a self-drilling screw using the stainless steel wire.;SOLUTION: There is provided a stainless steel wire for cold heading, the stainless steel wire comprising a phosphate coating formed on the surface thereof. The phosphate coating formed on the surface of the stainless steel wire has a weight of 4.0 to 14.0 g/m2. Since a phosphate coating is formed on the surface of the stainless steel wire, cold working property and clamping force can be significantly improved, and since outer appearance is improved, a post-process after a heading is not required.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
