PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure for positioning a valve characteristics adjusting mechanism of an internal combustion engine and a method for positioning the same capable of accurately maintaining the position of the valve characteristics adjusting mechanism without easily loosening up.;SOLUTION: A pressure receiving ring 68b is pressed in to a snap ring 68c arranged in a groove 68d formed on a circumference surface of a rocker shaft 68 and clamps the snap ring 68c from an upper side of the groove 68d. Consequently, the snap ring 68c does not come off the groove 68d and the pressure receiving ring 68b abutting on the snapping 68c from an axial force direction rear side is prevented from moving an axial force direction forward. Consequently, positioning structure not easily loosening up can be materialized and position of an intervening drive mechanism 24 of each cylinder can be accurately maintained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
