PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for more accurately estimating the effectiveness of the long-term administration of finasteride to male-pattern baldness.;SOLUTION: The estimation method comprises the examination of whether the sum of the repeating numbers of the CAG repeating region and the GGC repeating region of the first exon of the androgen receptor gene of the examinee is not more than or more than a standard number selected from 38 to 42, the measurement of the concentration of at least one kind of ingredients selected from free testosterone, 5α-dihydrotestosterone, IGF-1 and IGF-β1 in the blood collected from the examinee after the lapse of a prescribed period from the start of administration, and the comparison of the concentration to the concentration at the start of administration.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
