PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic endoscope capable of maintaining insertion workability of an insertion section and optical and ultrasonic observation simultaneously.;SOLUTION: An ultrasonic endoscope (10) includes an insertion section (12) having a distal end and a proximal end, an operation section which is disposed on the proximal end of the insertion section, an optical observation system and an ultrasonic observation system. The optical observation system is disposed in the insertion section and has an objective lens (38) on a distal end surface of the insertion section. The ultrasonic observation system is disposed in the insertion section and has an ultrasonic transducer (52) on the distal end surface of the insertion section or further forward of the distal end.
