PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and an operation method of an indirect internal reforming SOFC in which storage and supply of hydrogen are not necessary and startup/shutdown time can be shortened. PSOLUTION: The indirect internal reforming SOFC system includes: a first reformer manufacturing reformed gas from hydrocarbon fuel by using a steam reforming reaction; an indirect internal reforming SOFC including an SOFC generating electric power by using the reformed gas obtained in the first reformer and a container housing the first reformer and the SOFC, and being arranged at a position where the first reformer receives heat radiation from the SOFC; a second reformer arranged outside of the container and manufacturing reformed gas by reforming alcohol; and a line leading the reformed gas obtained in the second reformer from the second reformer to an anode of the SOFC. The method for operating the indirect internal reforming SOFC has a process of supplying reformed gas to the anode by reforming alcohol in the second reformer when a temperature of the first reformer is lower than that in manufacturing reformed gas from hydrocarbon fuel.
