PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide highly white newsprint paper giving clear-cut color prints owing to its high whiteness and hardly causing undried ink displacement as well, namely, seldom causing print defects even under high-speed printing operation owing to good ink settability.;SOLUTION: The highly white newsprint paper is such as to be obtained by incorporating a pulp stock with a filler followed by papermaking. In the newsprint paper, the filler contains 7-20 wt.% ash, and the pulp stock is such that coniferous kraft pulp and mechanical pulp account for 10-50 wt.% and 50-90 wt.% of the total pulp component. The newsprint has been adjusted to 50-90 s and 20-70 s in oil absorption and air permeability, respectively, being 75-85% in whiteness degree. Further, the mechanical pulp is characterized by having been subjected to bleaching treatment so as to be 70-80% in whiteness degree.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
