PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate a direct wave and a reflection wave from a reception signal in which the direct wave and the reflection wave are mixed, and to detect a delay time difference between the direct wave and the reflection wave, wherein synchronization between a transmission machine 100 and a receiving machine 200 is not required and estimation of the arrival directions of the direct wave and the reflection wave is not required.;SOLUTION: In the transmission machine 100, a modulator 130 performs any of amplitude modulation, frequency modulation, and phase modulation, and a transmitter 120 transmits a transmission wave having specific variation in any of the amplitude, the frequency, and the phase via a transmission antenna 110. In the receiving machine 200, a receiver 220 receives as the mixed wave the direct wave from the transmission machine 100, the reflection wave reflected by an object 300 and the other unnecessary waves via a reception antenna 210, a demodulator 230 demodulates the mixed wave, and a delay time detector 240 discriminates the direct wave and the reflection wave having specific variation from the mixed wave, and calculates the time period from the reception time of the direct wave to the reception time of the reflection wave as the delay time difference.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
