PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of adaptively controlling a flying height of a magnetic head, capable of determining FOP power by obtaining each flying height profile in accordance with a change in FOP power for each disk drive according to the operation temperature of a user environment, and to provide a disk drive apparatus using the same.;SOLUTION: The method of adaptively controlling a flying height of a magnetic head includes steps of: determining if parameter reset condition related to the flying height of the magnetic head has been set; measuring a temperature of a disk drive if the parameter reset condition has been set; obtaining a flying height profile of the magnetic head representing a variation of spacing between the magnetic head and a disk according to a variation of power supplied to a heater controlling the flying height of the magnetic head at the measured temperature; and determining power to be supplied to the heater corresponding to a target flying height of the magnetic head from the obtained flying height profile of the magnetic head.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
