PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve soft (chemically effective) ionization having high sensitivity (an electromagnetic effect) by utilizing a surface enhancement effect by surface plasmon to ionization.;SOLUTION: Gold colloid is mixed with a sample and dried, and then irradiated with laser light in the state, to thereby excite plasmon on the surface of gold particles, and the sample adhering to the gold is ionized by an electric field generated thereon, to thereby perform mass spectrometry. Since the gold colloid is used, a substrate to be used is not necessarily required to be a smooth substrate, and uniform surface plasmon can be excited at any angle. As for a condition of an incident laser, any incidence is acceptable if the laser can be hit. In the case of the gold colloid, a surface plasmon absorption wavelength exists near 520 nm, and excitation is possible only by hitting laser light having a wavelength in the periphery thereof (in this case, 532 nm).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
