PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a defect inspection method and a defect inspection device for a metal component, capable of detecting a defect existing in a surface and an inside of the metal component, without using a fluid such as water.;SOLUTION: An alternating current magnetic field is imparted to a toroidal type continuously variable transmission component 18 mounted on an upper face of a table 2, by an excitation coil 4 supplied with an alternating current AC from an excitation means 22 to generate a magnetic field in the periphery of the toroidal type continuously variable transmission component 18, and a size of the defect existing in the surface and the inside of the toroidal type continuously variable transmission component 18 is calculated thereafter based on a change of an inductance generated in a detecting coil 6 arranged within the magnetic field to inspect the defect existing in the surface and the inside of the toroidal type continuously variable transmission component 18.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
