PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an objective method for testing the degree of humification of a material subjected to a composting treatment which is applicable in a short time. PSOLUTION: The method for testing the degree of humification of the material subjected to the composting treatment by judging the state of the decomposition of organic substances in the material subjected to the composting treatment is carried out as follows. The state of decomposition of the organic substances is judged on the basis of a change in biological flora judged by at least either one of the abundance of a first microorganism reducing the abundance with time and the abundance of a second microorganism increasing the abundance with time according to the progress of the composting treatment.
