PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the control method of a multifunction device and the communication management part of the multifunction device, which improves use efficiency of a memory of a FAX part and with which backup data are properly managed by the communication management part of the multifunction device even when an error occurs at a printer part. PSOLUTION: The present invention relates to the method of controlling the multifunction device 100 having a FAX function and the communication management part 300 of the multifunction device which is connected to the multifunction device 100 on the same network 10 and saves backup data of FAX reception document data of the multifunction device 100, where the multifunction device 100 is controlled to print the FAX reception document data by the printer part and at the same time, to transmit the backup data of the FAX reception document data to the communication management part 300 of the multifunction device, and the communication management part 300 of the multifunction device is controlled to save only unsaved backup data among the backup data of the FAX reception document transmitted from the multifunction device 100.
