PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the control method of a multifunction device and the communication management part of the multifunction device, with which use efficiency of a memory of a FAX unit is improved and backup data are properly managed by the communication management part of the multifunction device even when an error occurs at a printer part. PSOLUTION: The present invention relates to the method of controlling the multifunction device 100 having a FAX function and the communication management part 300 of the multifunction device which is connected to the multifunction device 100 on the same network 10 and saves backup data of FAX reception document data of the multifunction device 100, where the multifunction device 100 is controlled to transmit the backup data to the communication management part 300 of the multifunction device when the backup data of the FAX reception document data are already not present at the communication management part of the multifunction device when the FAX reception document data are printed, and the communication management part 300 of the multifunction device is controlled to save the backup data of the FAX reception document transmitted from the multifunction device 100.
