PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract a feature amount related to the complexity of an image in a short time period.;SOLUTION: A method for extracting an image feature amount includes a number of counts calculation process and an inclination calculation process. The number of counts calculation process obtains the number of counts by the unit of a first block and the number of counts by the unit of a second block smaller in block size than the first block for each of the first blocks constituting an input image. The inclination calculation process obtains, by logarithmically approximating, an inclination of a linear line in a double logarithmic chart showing a relationship between the number of counts and block sizes obtained in the number of counts calculation process as the feature amount related to the complexity of the first block for each of the first blocks.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
