PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent even retrieval processing performed to an index from affecting the through-put of the other retrieval or update processing to an index section irrelevant to conditions without deteriorating the through-put of the retrieval processing. PSOLUTION: In an index file retrieval device, an exclusive resource determination means 103 determines one exclusive unit as a whole localized into a block including only an index relevant to applied conditions in records when an index file is accessed by an index file access means 104, and a designated block is extracted, and an exclusive control means 105 controls the index file access means 104 to perform exclusive control in a batch only to the block configuring the determined exclusive unit, and not to perform any exclusive control to the block excluding the index relevant to the applied conditions in the records.
