PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device used for a liquid crystal device for transflective type, the optical device having a phase difference layer comprising an isotropic phase part and a liquid crystal phase part while a level difference of the phase difference layer is flattened, and having a phase difference control function.;SOLUTION: The optical device used for the liquid crystal device for transflective type has the phase difference layer comprising the liquid crystal phase part formed directly or indirectly on a top surface of the substrate, the isotropic phase part formed adjacently thereto, and a transmissive flattening layer formed covering top surfaces of both the parts and having a flat surface.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
