PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a field device used for fault diagnostic processing and a simulation method therefor that appropriately support fault diagnostic processing, including appropriate threshold determination, by generating a simulated value based on a fault diagnosis result by simulation, applying the simulated value to a fault diagnosis and notifying the simulated value to a user.;SOLUTION: The field device comprises an arithmetic processing part for performing arithmetic oepration based on a detected physical quantity, a fault diagnostic processing part for comparing the calculated value with thresholds for a fault diagnosis, and a simulation part for generating and setting in the fault diagnostic processing part a simulated fault diagnosis result. The simulation part comprises an output processing part for generating and setting in the fault diagnostic processing part simulated thresholds or generating and setting in the arithmetic processing part a simulated processed value according to the fault diagnosis result of the fault diagnostic processing part, and outputting the simulated thresholds or simulated processed value.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
