PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertically laying external facing material for construction and a vertically laying external facing structure, having mainly both workability, flashing performance, strength performance, a structure and safety of a worker in a high dimension in a well-balanced state, in the vertically laying (vertically sticking) external facing material and the external facing structure constructed on a roof and a wall of a building.;SOLUTION: This vertically laying external facing material 1 for construction is arranged between holding members 2 and 2 prearranged at a predetermined interval on an external facing backing 4, and has a face plate part 11 in the center and an inside rising part 12 held by the holding member 2 on its right/left side edges, and has outside rising parts 14 and 14' outside the inside rising part 12 via a water introducing groove 13, and has engaging parts 141 and 141' held by the holding members 2 in the outside rising parts 14 and 14'.
