PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a technique for noncontact and nondestructive inspection on degradation with age of thermal barrier coatings of heat-resistant metal materials used for advanced gas turbines etc.;SOLUTION: High-frequency transmission characteristics are used to perform quantitative, noncontact, and nondestructive evaluation of the generation and growth of thermo-growth oxides (for example, formed in an interface between a Thermal Barrier Coating (TBC) and a bond coating) which occur in the thermo barrier coating of a heat-resistant material having the thermo barrier coating applied onto a metal substrate. It is thereby possible to grasp the state of degradation prior to the occurrences of peeling and coming-off of the coating, replace parts at appropriate timings, and achieve excellent action effects in safety and economy.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
