PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for imaging of high image quality.;SOLUTION: The imaging system 100 for displaying a color image includes an illumination source 102 for generating an illumination beam, an illumination dividing means 106 for generating typically different primary color illumination beams, and a plurality of image modulators 104a, 104b, 104c. The illumination dividing means comprises a dynamic selecting means 108 for subsequently generating subsets, with different primary color sub beams from the illumination beam for a single color image to be imaged for guiding the subsets of the primary color sub beams to a static selecting means 110. The illumination dividing means also comprises a static selecting means for guiding the primary color sub beams to a plurality of image modulators for modulating the primary color sub beams guided from the subsets for generating a single color image to be imaged for subsets of primary color sub beams subsequently generated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
