PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active or passive pixel structure and a read-out method of pixels in which double or multiple linear voltage-light responses can be obtained for a single pixel. PSOLUTION: While acquiring charge carriers on an output node of a photosensitive element 3, the charge carriers being converted from electromagnetic radiation on the photosensitive element 3, after a first time period, a first signal is created by storing the charge carriers of a first number in a memory element 4 by opening a first switch and the first switch 1 is then closed. After a second time period, a second signal is created from charge carriers of a second number accumulated on the output node of the photosensitive element 3, the read-out signal being a combination of at least the first and the second signals.
