REVERSE MODELING METHOD USING MESH DATA AS FEATURE

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform reverse modeling by following a procedure in which an original product designer has designed a product by a three dimensional CAD program by using mesh data as a feature. PSOLUTION: This reverse modeling method includes the steps of: detecting optional mesh data, setting the mesh data as a feature, and establishing a reference coordinate system of set mesh data; establishing a work plane on which a sketch of the set mesh data can be projected; projecting section data of the mesh data on a work plane for sketch production; dividing data projected on the work plane for sketch production into feature segments depending upon curvature distributions, and producing divided segments as sketch data; and producing a three dimensional feature from the sketch data which corresponds to a shape of the mesh data.
