PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform efficient sterilization by extending the residence time of microorganisms and increasing the concentration of the microorganisms in the vicinity of an antibacterial ingredient-containing member.;SOLUTION: A water sterilization device 210 is composed of a water sterilization unit 200 installed in a water storage part 102 having an inflow part 101 and an outflow part 103. The water sterilization unit 200 comprises a pair of conductive meshes 31, 32, a power source 5 applying a voltage between the meshes for forming an electric field, and disinfectant members 2 installed in the electric field. Microorganisms negatively charged in water are sucked into the conductive mesh 31 on the inflow side of positive voltage to flow into spaces between the disinfectant members 2, and repelled by the conductive mesh 32 on the outflow side of negative voltage, which makes it difficult for the negatively charged microorganisms to flow out from the spaces between the disinfectant members 2, enclosing the microorganisms in the spaces.
