PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document collecting device for collecting object documents laid on carried documents to form bound documents, ensuring charge of the object collected documents into the carried documents for collection. SOLUTION: A carriage image pickup means 12 for picking up the images of identification codes of carried documents 19 on a carrying line of a carrying means 19 and a, collection image pickup means 13 for picking up the images of the identification codes of collected documents 22 the ends of which are detected by an end detecting means 17 and which are ready. A recognizing means 14 is provided for recognizing the contents of the identification codes in accordance with image pickup data from the carriage image pickup means 12 and the collection image pickup means 13. A collating means 15 is provided for outputting charge signals to a charging means which charges the collected documents 22 into the carried documents 19 after the collation and judgement of the contents of the identification codes recognized by the recognizing means 14.
