PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for easily searching a buried structure in various probing objects with a high degree of accuracy, while adaptively controlling the measurement parameters to its optimum value. PSOLUTION: In this processing method for probing the buried structure, transmission waves are radiated from the surface of the buried structure extended consecutively in the probing objects, and reflected waves of the transmission wave is received to probe the buried structure on the basis of the data of reflected wave. Further an image processing unit 10 generates an image data having density data of two cross sections, which perpendicularly intersect with the surface of the buried structure, based on data of received reflected wave; uses the fact that the buried structure is consecutively-extended, to generate candidate dot image data of the two cross sections which indicate the candidate dot of the buried structure, by removing the image data where no buried structure exists, stores the candidate dot image data in an image memory 23 so as to virtually locate it on three-dimensional space, uses genetic algorithm on the basis of the stored candidate dot image data and the candidate dot to estimate the buried structure position, while adaptively-controlling parameters for localization, and then generates the image of the buried structure in the form of a three-dimensional image to be output.
