PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a squelch device having a voice squelch function responding to only a human voice without using a noise squelch and an RSSI signal, and also to provide a squelch method.;SOLUTION: The squelch device is provided with: detecting means 12 and 20 of detecting pitch frequencies by frames of a predetermined number of data of an input signal; a first delay means 31 of delaying the output of the detecting means by a predetermined number of frames; a first ON signal generating means 39 of generating an ON signal on condition that difference between the outputs of the detecting means and first delay means is less than a predetermined value; and a squelch signal output means 14 of starting outputting a squelch open signal as to the input signal in response to predetermined-period continuation of the ON signal from the first ON signal generating means.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
