PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely record data on an optical disk.;SOLUTION: Test data are recorded on an optical disk 1 by irradiation with a laser beam from an optical pickup 12 and read them before recording the data. The optimum power of the laser beam for data recording is determined by evaluating the recorded state on the optical disk 1 from the signals reproduced by a signal processor 13. A system controller 20 compares the BH signal showing the bottom values of the reproduced signals outputted from a reproduction characteristic extraction section 24 and the threshold when evaluating the recorded state on the optical disk 1, then correctly adjusts the read position of the optical pick up 12 from the results of the comparison.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
