PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an NC lathe and a tool condition detecting method for a cutting tool in the NC lathe capable of surely detecting vibrations at the time of cutting and reliably detecting the tool condition of the cutting tool even in the NC lathe performing cutting while bringing the cutting tool into contact with an object to be cut attached in a main spindle and rotated.;SOLUTION: The NC lathe is provided with a tool storing part storing a plurality of cutting tools, and it selects a desired cutting tool automatically from the tool storing part by processing data input in advance and performs cutting to the object to be cut. It is provided with one detecting sensor arranged in the tool storing part for detecting vibrations when cutting, and an abnormality distinguishing device distinguishing whether the conditions of the plurality of cutting tools are normal or abnormal by the analysis of the sensor output wave shape of a sensor output value output from the detecting sensor.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
