PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spiral orbit type time of flight type mass spectrometer capable of setting a position of an intermediate convergence point in a free position by combining a reflectron with a spiral orbit type TOFMS.;SOLUTION: The spiral orbit type time-of-flight type mass spectrometer is structured of an ion source 30 for ionizing a sample, an acceleration means for accelerating ions in a form of pulses, an analyzing part formed of a plurality of sector electric fields 31-34 for flying the ions on a spiral orbit, a reflection electric field 35, and a detector 36 for detecting the ions, is provided with an ion optical system so as to completely satisfy a space convergence condition and time convergence condition on a spiral orbit orbiting part, and is so structured that the intermediate convergence point by an ion acceleration method is not on an orbit of the spiral orbit.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
