PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focal distance and/or field angle calculation method and light projection device used therefor capable of calculating always stably an accurate focal distance aiming at every subject without requiring installation of a marker, when calculating the focal distance of a monocular vision static image camera or a monocular vision moving image camera. PSOLUTION: Light is projected in two directions forming a prescribed angle , and an image 12 including light spots 7a, 7b drawn with the light on the subject by an imaging device is photographed. Images 14a, 14b of the light spots are detected from a picture image 12 acquired resultantly, and the focal distance and the field angle are calculated by using the coordinates of the images 14a, 14b of the light spots and the prescribed angle .
