PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a book storage and management device capable of facilitating inputting work of book size and improving efficiency of return work of books and, in particular, work efficiency of carrying-in of new books by performing management for giving a degree of freedom to the size of books stored in the same container.;SOLUTION: The size of book 32 is settled as a plurality of book size distinguishing codes. When the book 32 to be stored newly in a library is carried in, the book size distinguishing code allowing size of the book 32 and having excellent storage efficiency to the maximum extent is selected to deliver a container 12 corresponding to it. By reading a book code of the book 32 and storing it in the delivered container 12, the book size of the book 32 is registered as the book size distinguishing code.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
