PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily denitrify exhaust gas at a low cost even at a low temperature.;SOLUTION: A denitrification catalyst comprising cobalt oxide and zirconium oxide is used. By the use of the denitrification catalyst, a denitrification system having the first and second denitrification reaction chambers 11 and 12 is constituted. The exhaust gas is introduced alternately into the first and second denitrification reaction chambers 11 and 12, and the occlusion process and release process of NOx in the exhaust gas are repeated in the chambers 11 and 12. In this way, NOx in the exhaust gas is occluded in ether one of denitrification reaction chambers, and a reducing gas is introduced into the other chamber to release the occluded gas.
