PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure a spectrum with a real center wavelength by eliminating the polarization dependency of a spectral element for incident light in an arbitrary polarizing state.;SOLUTION: The polarization eliminating plate is provided witn a 2nd birefringent plate 1B which continuously varies in thickness along an optical axis 12, and a 3rd birefringent plate 1C which continuously varies in thickness at 45° to the optical axis 13. The both are stuck together so that the thickness decreasing direction of the 2nd birefringent plate 1B and the thickness decreasing direction of the 3rd birefringent plate 1C are opposite to each other.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
