PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ferrule for a two-dimensional array type optical connector in which no problem is caused even when the number of stages of optical fiber holes of two-dimensional array increases.;SOLUTION: The ferrule 11 itself does not have optical fiber guide grooves corresponding to the optical fiber holes 15 of two-dimensional array. When each optical fiber of multicore optical fibers is inserted into the optical fiber hole 15, an optical fiber insertion jig 21 having an optical fiber guide groove 21a on the lower surface is inserted into a hollow part 13 from an adhesive filling window 13a. The optical fibers are inserted in the fiber holes 15 in one horizontal column of the lowermost stage using the guide grooves 21a as guides. Afterwards, the optical fibers are sequentially inserted into the optical fiber holes 15 using the guide grooves 21a as the guides while transferring the optical fiber insertion jig 21 upward by one step. The shape of the hollow part 13 does not become complicated even when the number of stages of the optical fiber holes increases. Resin molding of the ferrule is easy, an inserting operation of the optical fiber is also easy and no problem of incorrect insertion of the optical fiber is also caused.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
