PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earthquake-proof and windproof plain tile which is excellent in roofing appearance by virtue of the absence of the collapse of a boundary line for roofing using the plain tile, which can adapt to either of straight roofing and zigzag roofing, and which has few problems in terms of manufacturing technology. PSOLUTION: This earthquake-proof and windproof plain tile is a plain tile 2 wherein an overlap part 3 is provided on one side of a tile body and wherein an underlap part 4 is provided on the other side. In the earthquake-proof and windproof plain tile, a sideward protruded fitting protrusion 31a is formed on a side surface 31 of the overlap part, and an inward directed fitting hole 41a is formed in a base step surface 41 of the underlap part 4. When the roofing is performed by using the plain tiles 2 and 2, the fitting protrusion 31a is fitted into the fitting hole 41a of the plain tile laid in an adjacent manner, and the side surface 31 of the overlap part and the step surface 41 of the adjacent plain tile are arranged substantially with no space in between.
