PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow exact coding with a reduced burden, in a disease name character string including inscription fluctuation. PSOLUTION: A portion of the inscription fluctuation is converted into a standard inscription using an inscription fluctuation table 5 before collating the disease name character string with a disease name master table 7. When a character string of a disease name obtained in the collation with the disease name master table 7 is not same to that of an objective disease name, an attribute of an expression included in the disease name character string is analyzed, and consistency is evaluated to be exhibited to the user. A disease name close thereto is retrieved by the user in a required part based on information therein, and a code is allowed to be corrected. The large number of disease names including the inscription fluctuation is thereby encoded with the reduced burden, and an input mistake is also prevented. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
