PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for operating an energization roll unit, which prevents a great damage such as the burnout of facilities, by detecting an unstable contact between the shaft of an energization roll and an energization brush due to the surface roughening of the brush and the reduction of a brush-pressing spring force, ascertaining the abrasion limit of the brush and the soundness of the facilities, and judging either to energize the roll or stop energization.;SOLUTION: The method for operating the energization roll unit, which passes an electric current by pushing several energization brushes to the shaft of the energization roll, comprises grounding the energization brush through a grounding wire, measuring a grounding current flowing through the grounding wire, and energizing or stopping the energization in consideration of the measured value of the grounding current.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
