PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a question answering device for outputting proper answer candidates even when information as answers is distributed and described in a plurality of documents.;SOLUTION: A divided question sentence generating part 111 divides a question sentence inputted by an input part 101 into divided question sentences as a plurality of divided questions. An answer candidate storing part 113 analyzes the question sentence and the divided question sentences to acquire answer candidates as the candidates of an answer from the plurality of documents, and stores the acquired answer candidates and the question sentence or the divided question sentences as a pair. Then, the answer candidates are evaluated/merged by an answer candidate generating part 128, and the finally acquired pair is outputted from an ouptut part 103 as an answer by a control part 102.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
