PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an electrochromic material such that the cost is relatively low and the color change frequency of the electrochromic material is higher than before, and the electrochromic material which is manufactured by the manufacturing method. PSOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the electrochromic material includes a transparent conductive thin film forming process of forming a transparent conductive thin film on a transparent base, a metal thin film forming process of forming a thin film of metal whose oxide discolors by voltage application on the transparent conductive thin film, and a metal thin film oxidizing process of changing the metal thin film into a metal oxide thin film by dipping it in an oxidizer for a specified time for oxidation.
