PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rim raw material for an uneven thickness rim capable of preventing the deterioration of strength even if a thick part is displaced in the axial direction when forming a rim, and to provide an uneven thickness rim and a manufacturing method thereof.;SOLUTION: This rim raw material 11 for an uneven thickness rim has a first raw material part to be formed into an axial directional R part and a second raw material part to be formed into a part between the adjacent axial directional parts R after forming the rim. The first raw material part is formed with a thick parallel part 13 having a surface and a back surface in parallel with each other, and width of each of the parallel parts is secured at a width larger than the maximum quantity of displacement of the rim in the axial direction when forming a corresponding R part. The second raw material part is formed with a plate-thickness change part 14, and a surface thereof is formed into a straight line or a gradual curve. The uneven thickness rim 12 is manufactured from the rim raw material 11. The uneven thickness rim 12 manufacturing method has processes for manufacturing the uneven thickness rim raw material 11, rolling the uneven thickness rim raw material so that both ends thereof abut on each other, welding them to form into an annular raw material, trimming the welding part, flare-working both axial directional ends of the annular raw material, and forming them into the rim shape by rolling.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
