The multi-stage flash-type seawater desalination apparatus includes a housing 31 in which a plurality of stages Sr1 to Srn are sequentially arranged from front to back. A heat transfer pipe 35 extends through the stages Sr1 to Srn sequentially from the rear to the front. A seawater flow path 38 is provided at the bottom of the housing 31 so as to sequentially pass through each stage Sr1 to Srn from the front to the rear. The rear end 38 of the seawater channel and the rear end of the heat transfer pipe 35 are connected by a rear circulation pipe 45. The front end of the heat transfer pipe 35 and the front end of the seawater channel 38 are connected by a front circulation pipe 47. Seawater flowing through the front circulation pipe 47 is heated by the heater 48. A bypass 61 is provided so as to bypass the flow path of the heat transfer pipe 35. A bypass 61 is joined upstream of the flow path heater 48 of the front circulation pipe 47.
