PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new synthetic route and to establish the new total synthetic route by selecting a protective group of which a deprotection reaction progresses substrate-specifically in a comparative mild condition, as the protective group of a hydroxy group used in the final step of the total synthesis to improve the yield of ciguatoxins and the easiness of the production.;SOLUTION: A compound having a naphthylmethyl (NAP) group instead of a conventional benzyl (Bn) group introduced to the compound is used as the protective group for the hydroxy group of a synthetic precursor of a new ciguatoxins (CTX3C) represented by the compound 8 of the formula. The deprotection reaction of the NAP group is made possible by an oxidation reaction by which the deprotection is carried out more easily than that of the Bn group, and which has high chemical structure specificity, and the CRX3C can be produced in high yield.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
