PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain highly reactive metal niobates which can result in low sintering ceramic exhibiting good dielectric property by incorporating a metal- containing additive selected from Li, Na and K in particular metal niobates. ;SOLUTION: Highly reactive metal niobates and/or metal tantalates of the general formula Me(II)A2O6 or Me(III)AO4 [A is Nb or Ta; Me(II) is Mg, Fe, Co, Ni, Cr, Mn, Cd or Zn of atomic value II; Me(III) is Fe, Co, Cr or Mn of atomic value III] are obtained. A separate or mixed additive of 0.1 to 20 mole % Li, Na, K and their salts, hydroxides and/or oxides is added to the corresponding metal oxides together with a niobium component and/or tantalum component which are hydrate niobium oxide and/or hydrate tantalum oxide, wet mixed homogeneously with a mixer, dried and then sintered at a temperature from 400 to 1,200°C for 15 minutes to 6 hours.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
