PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst material for catalytic combustion capable of rapidly reaching a high temperature to start oxidation reaction in a short time, and an applied process thereof.;SOLUTION: A noble metal such as platinum, palladium, or rhodium is dispersed on a carrier having a high specific surface area. A fuel such as an alcoholic compound or a hydrocarbon and a proper quantity of air or oxygen are provided to this boron nitride-supporting noble metal catalyst at room temperature, and brought into contact with the noble metal catalyst to raise the temperature to 500-1000°C.
