PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the economy of the whole plant by increasing thermal output while securing thermal margin. PSOLUTION: This boiling water reactor includes a core 102, control rods 103 to be inserted into or pulled out from the core 102 and internal pumps 104 for driving coolant supplied to the core 102. Then, steady-state operation is carried out so that all the internal pumps 104 included in a reactor can be driven and controlled at the maximum rotation speed, which is acceptable under a condition of normal use or that in the proximity to it so that the insertion of the control rods 103 into the core 102 and the pulling-out of them from it can be controlled by a control rod drive mechanism 109 of an electric drive type.
