PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology which extensively improves solar energy conversion efficiency, by preventing an energy level of a conduction band from becoming positive in a large scale while maintaining a visible light responsiveness by controlling a valence electron level of a semiconductor, and reduces a diffusion distance of charge by using a membranous semiconductor photoelectrode, on a photoelectrochemical system having a specific semiconductor photoelectrode combined with a counter electrode. PSOLUTION: The membranous porous semiconductor photoelectrode is used for a photoelectrochemical cell performing a stored energy reaction, composed of a complex metal oxide group semiconductor with a porous structure having visible light responsiveness, and composed of not less than two kinds of metal elements. At least one of the metal elements is chosen from bismuth, silver, copper, tin, lead, vanadium, indium, praseodinium, chromium, and nickel. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
