A pair of devices (15) are secured to goalposts (2) of a goal (1) and extend rearwardly therefrom comprise primary and secondary panel structures (17,18) which enable a determination to be made as to the side of the goalposts (2) on which a ball passes. If the ball passes adjacent one of the goalposts (2) within an area (11) above a cross-bar (4) of the goal (1) and between the goalposts (2), depending on the angle from which the ball is shot at the goal (1), the ball will strike or otherwise one on the primary and secondary panel structures (17, 18) thus allowing a determination to be made as to the side of the goalpost (2) on which the ball passed.
