An improved electrically operated vehicle, in which the traction being provided by one or more drive motors operating from a set of batteries, the vehicle further comprising a wind based primary battery charging unit having one (or) more fans driven by the air stream generated by the vehicle motion and /or the headwind linked by a speed controlling means with a generator system having one or more generators for recharging one or more energy storage device connected with it; a secondary charging unit having one or more energy storage device connected with one or more generator system; one or more changeover device having sensor for managing the recharging of the energy storage device in the secondary charging unit wherein the drive motor is of a low speed rating, the generator speed rating being equal to or greater than that of said drive motor, the said set of batteries and energy storage devices are being housed in modular, slidable and interchangeable drawer like housings that slide into position in suitable cavities for the purpose provided on said vehicle, and the secondary charging unit recharges the said set of batteries whereas the wind based primary battery charging unit recharges the said energy storage device ( BAT 1 or BAT 2) connected with it whenever the parameters of the energy storage device (BAT 1 or BAT 2) is below a predetermined limit with the generators of the secondary charging unit and the drive motor are connected in asymmetric configuration with the said set of batteries.
